Front Shocks And Bushings Astro AWD 2002

My front shocks are completely dead on my 2002 Astro AWD. I need to replace them but need to know if this is something I can do myself or do I need to bring it to a shop to get it done? I am also getting a lot of squeeking from what I think are the suspension bushings. Again, can I change these myself or do I need special equipment. When I drive the van people hear me coming from miles.

I am a marine mechanic, so I am highly skilled mechanically.

You can replace the shocks. Best tip I've ever seen is not to try to unscrew the nut on the top, but to break it off. Shortens the removal time by hours...

I haven't done the bushings on mine, so I can't comment on those.

use a grinding wheel to cut the shaft, yes get all polyurathane bushings, use a lube on all mating surfaces, give yourself a weekend to get it done, hence the term weekend mechanic.
