Front fork done. Rear arm done. Body painted, now drying, awaiting clearcoat. (Skyline R32 in the background.) The carboretors, note the T-shaped silver pieces holding the hoses. this simple didn't work. the pins snapped while getting the hoses on. or the enire piece came off. sollution: Cut of T-shapes, sand smooth 1 long hose glued on with instant glue. 5 tiny parts glued, 0 fingers glued I'll paint the hose on the glue spot, won't look to different. This part will sit between the 2 cilinders on the engine and inside the tub. So it's not that visible anyway. more pics here.

here's a progress pic of mine b4 the fairing pieces went on. I didnt want to spend too much time on this area because the front half of the bike isnt removable for display. U can also notice on my 1st pic, I used a different spring than what was boxed. It is a RC suspension spring. I have this bike in all available sizes, 1:12, 1:9, and even huge 1:6

Re: UC: Revell Ducati 916 SP
gallery update, from page 4.
Almost done, everything is painted now. Just waiting for the cowls to dry. I hope they turn out right... I got the brightest red I could find from Duplicolor automotive paint. But that didn't dried up as bright and shiny as I had hoped.

Re: UC: Revell Ducati 916 SP
Are you gonna paint the chain? They really look great if u spend time on it. I sanded all those cut sprues remnants and everything down, sprayed the entire chain in a metallic black and then paint each link gold and then go back and paint each chain link pin black. It takes patience, so practice on the portion that is behind the swingarm. But attention to detail here is the ultimate realism!

Re: UC: Revell Ducati 916 SP
I'll be putting in a lot of detail when it's finished. it doesn't look real now. I noticed the gold chain on yours. Looks nice!
BTW, where's the front fender on yours?

Re: UC: Revell Ducati 916 SP
Well I wanted to lower the front the suspension for a more aggressive look. As you can see it is very LOW and the front tire clears the fairing by like 1/16 of an inch. Notice I didn't add the mirrors and the rear license plate bracket too. I just like the simple, clean and aggressive look.

Re: UC: Revell Ducati 916 SP
Well I was quite suprised at the detail from Revell. This ducati kit was one of my favs. All the pieces are superbly molded and detailed. And of course Tamiya's was awesome too. So the major difference would have to be size; this kit is about 22mm long at 1:9 scale. But I think the bigger kits are more fun because it allows for a more realistic customization and detail. The buildup for them is also the same. The fairings are in the same # of pieces as well. If you can get your hands on this kit...go for it! I think I got mine for 20$ shipped from ebay!!!

Re: UC: Revell Ducati 916 SP
It's a nice kit, but I wasn't to impressed with the fitment of some parts. But I can be built. The buildplans are terrible. It doesn't show where to connect all hoses. It doesn't mention a number or a color for some pieces and it misses some detailed drawings where you could really use it.
The 40 euro's I payed is a bit to much, but I've found a site that sells the same bike for 32 euro's. It a lot more detailed than other Revell kits I've seen. The Revell Ducati kit is made by Protar. It even says so on the sprues. I think I'll do another bike pretty some. The size makes the very nice showpieces. But I'm certainly modifying the cowls on the next on so I can take them off to show the engine.

That looks really good, as though you could get on it and go for a ride.
