Re: Grand Theft Auto IV!!!!!!!!
Yeah I posted a link for the 2nd preview too and its crazy. Lots and lots more detail incorporated in the upcoming game. Still wondering how big the map is gonna be. I can't imagine its all gonna be just Liberty City. There was a billboard advertising a price to fly to Vice City in the first preview however, so who knows?

The three red rings that appear on the 360 means there is a problem with the hardware. Sometimes its because of a faulty power cable but a lot of the times, including my roomates, is because of the CPU and GPU. Microsoft uses really crappy soldering on those components and when the 360 overheats they come undone or something like that and causes the errors. I hear Gears of War is a common game that may lead to this 3 rings problem. You need to resolder those two things with heat to make it work again. Some people cover the 360 with a towel (covering the vents) and leave it on and is a temporary fix (like a day or two at most). Another way to fix it (with mixed reviews) is to open it up and use a heat gun to resolder the two components. The important thing about the heat gun fix is that ONLY THE TWO processors need it so you have to cover up the rest of the motherboard with aluminum foil to keep things from melting (there is a good video on youtube somewhere showing you how to do heat gun fix). We haven't tried this yet, but I don't see how it wouldn't work IF DONE RIGHT. I could see a lot of people screwing this up cuz it does take about two hours. But if it does, you only spend like 10 bucks on the gun instead of paying 140 bucks when returning to microsoft or buying a new system entirely. The 3 rings is not that uncommon. Google it. You will see. If you haven't had it, consider yourself lucky and I suggest you buy the extended warranty if you can(ASAP!!!!!!!!!) It is well worth it.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV!!!!!!!!
a friend of mine has one and has never had this problem. the only problem we've had was a few months ago every once in a while the game would stop and we'd get a message saying the disk was unreadable. that has stopped though.
they really should have gotten better colling in those things, i've heard of a few problems, most of them resulting from overheating.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV!!!!!!!!
If you don't play the thing everyday, you don't leave it on overnight, you have a life, or you properly maintain it/keep it in a room with proper conditions and temperatures like any other computer, then you'll probably be all right. No doubt the 360 kicks ass, but i'm disappointed that I got turned off from buying one because of the potential of failure.
Anyway, back to the topic, I really liked San Andreas, don't really know what everyones beef is. I have all the GTAs from the second one to vice city stories. I like the large world and the increased abilities CJ has over the other games. Loading is a big problem on the PS2 though and doesn't sound like its any better on the PC. I'm sure its better on the Xbox. And i'm pretty sure this will be good. This is the first GTA game on the new platforms and both systems have a LOT of potential as we have already seen. Rockstar will be able to do a lot more things than with the older consoles. They're gonna want you to keep playing and playing so there's probably a ton more side missions besides those police, fire, taxi crap. I hope to see more hardcore side missions like maybe hitman style and taking contracts or maybe even robberies, both simple and complex. The storyline itself maybe a bit longer than the other games. I expect GTA IV to get some Game of the Year awards.

Re: Grand Theft Auto IV!!!!!!!!
san andreas wasn't a bad game, i just got bored of it, some of the missions i had pretty much seen before, some sucked, some were really good. i think the biggest thing is that i didn't find enough that i hadnt seen before. there were the skills and crap but it was just too similar to the other games.

Or just buy a PS3 safe in the knowledge in GT5, FF XIII (Or whatever they're up to now) and MGS4 coming out. Screw the 360, it's the VW Jetta of consoles.
