'71 Chevelle Malibu?

My buddy just got ahold of me wanting to unload his car. I know about "0" about Chevies, so I'm asking if his price of $5000 for what was an original 305 (now 350cui.) AT is worth it. The interior is in nice condition only the headrests look 'used' the rest of the upholstery is in fine shape. Apparently all it needs it some body-paint luv. (It doesn't have any dents or dings, just some stains where it was setting under some type of tree. It is primered.) The engine has about 2,000 on the rebuild, but I don't know how many are on the odometer. Does this sound like a fair price, or should it be higher or lower?

Lower was what I thought, too. but in checking the Chevelle section of ebay, there are cars in similar condition that are going for about that price. it may be time to ebay!
