2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
Hey Guys,
I'm new at this forum thing, and I was wondering if someone could give me some help. I recently replaced the Bank 1 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor. It has been about six months, and the check engine light has come back on, saying it needs to be replaced. I bought the oxygen sensor, but shouldn't they last a long time? I'm not sure what the deal is, but this will be the second time I replaced it. 2001 GMC Yukon SLT 4x4 5.3L V8 Thanks for your help! |

Are you sure, that you replaced the right sensor on bank 1?
Did you do a visual inspection on the H2O sensor wire? |

Re: 2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
Yeah, we definitely replaced the right one. The wiring was acting weird before, but I made sure it was a tight connection. The light goes out every once in a while, so I am wondering if it could be faulty wiring or if the wire became loose again. I'll go make sure right now.

Re: 2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
Isn't bank 1 on the drivers side, and sensor 2 down stream of the catalytic converter?
What brand is the H02 sensor? |

Yup. It is driver's side after the cat. The brand is some off brand from my local auto parts store. It is an OE Extra made by standard motor products inc.

Re: 2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
How long is the Federal emission warranty on new H02 sensors?
Consider rolling down stream H02 sensors from bank1 to bank2. |

Re: 2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
I have no idea what the warranty is. Sorry for being ignorant, but what do you mean by "rolling"?

Re: 2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
Swap the H2O sensor (2) from Bank 1 (drivers side) to bank 2, on the passenger side.
I'am not sure of the warranty, but it's worth checking your Auto parts store. |

Re: 2001 Yukon O2 Sensor Problems
it ended up just being the o2 sensor. the guys at the shop ran some tests and it kept failing this one obscure test. all of a sudden it started to work when we put in a new o2 sensor. they think it was some kind of short
