92 galant overheating/no fans/burping sound in radiator
I have a very strange problem w/ 92 Galant. Car is over heating, seems like a lot of pressure in coolant system. Actually making like a burping sound in top of radiator and pushing coolant out overflow. I was thinking head gasket, but for some reason my fans are not coming on. All fuses relays seem okay, I pulled the plug and checked pins w/ test light. When I turn on AC one of the pins light the test light (as it should I would assume) When I probe the pin next to it when car is hot this pin also lights the test light, but neither fan comes on. this is making me think there is power to the single plug for fans, but no fan. Is there some other control (maybe the ceramic capacitor? on the one fan) that could go bad?? I am probeing the four pin female/ harness side of the plug attached to the fan on drivers side. I have also read that thermostat has a tendancy to get stuck, and I am wondering if the lack of flow could cause the over pressuraztion and no flow past sensor to turn on fan. This however confuses me since there seems to be power to the plug. Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: 92 galant overheating/no fans/burping sound in radiator
Removed thermostat, flushed system. This seems to have fixed all my woes. I am assuming the stuck thermostat I have read so much about in the forums was causing the sytem to over pressurize. Also it was not allowing coolant to circulate and get to sensors to turn fans on. Fans operating properly. Very strange set of symptoms, very easy fix.

Re: 92 galant overheating/no fans/burping sound in radiator
Hello,
I have a similar problem where my car is getting overheated - I am suspecting that the thermostat is getting stuck not allowing the coolant to circulate. Can you tell me how do i get the thermostat corrected ? Mine is 2002 Gallant. |
