3 in 1 work YAMAHA YZR 500
Hello, MERRY CHRISTMAS guys..
First of all i'm going to introduce myself. My name is Will, and i am living in Indonesia, i've started this hobby years ago since i was in college. During these time i only see your guys awesome works, but now i dare myself to post my work here and hoping to get some criticism from all of you So let's focus on my WIP but sorry for my bad english, Also please give me your comments, anything would do... I started with these 3 unbuilt kits. but one of 1999 kits above is going to be converted into an 1998 YZR ridden by Norifumi Abe (RIP) only by using museum collection decals and a little modification to some parts panel. I always like this rider's style when cornering. Have u guys seen his first GP race @1994 ? AWESOME !! although he only won some races along his career, his great name will never be forgotten... This was Norifumi Abe with his 1998 Yamaha YZR500 and the other two models would be: 2001 Yamaha YZR500 No : 19 ridden by Olivier Jaques (France) 1999 Yamaha YZR500 No : 24 ridden by Garry McCoy (Australia) OK, back to my WIP.. the first thing to do, i cut off these rear disc brake and started drilling holes with an 0,3mm drill. Time consuming but the result is worth the efforts then the works goes to the Chains area, still the same with the rear disc brake, i also make holes to the front gear, and then paint all as instructed and do some washing to give a stronger somewhat expression. here is the rear disc caliper , Radiators, engine heads. @this pic i haven't coloured the Brembo marking yet, these are jobs with also some washing techniques the radiators... i did it on purpose to take these 2 differents radiators in 1 shot. so that the differential between washed and original one will be clearly seen. That's all for today, C&C are always welcome. Last edited by auditions; 01-23-2010 at 09:14 PM. |

You're off to a great start! I really like that Red Bull bike, I've looked at those kits before and thought about getting one.

Re: 3 in 1 work YAMAHA YZR 500
Yep, Norifumi Abe rode the Suzuka track like he owned it! He had some other impressive rides and was even Rossi's teammate at one time.
Nice start on the bikes, I can't wait to see more! Mark |

Re: 3 in 1 work YAMAHA YZR 500
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010
some updates of WIP during christmas & new year holidays I happened to see there are some differences of the cowling and tailcover between 1998 & 1999 YZR based on some pics found from the internet So, with no doubt i changed it to become a 1998 version which should be looked like this: if seen from aside would be like this: Sorry for the blurry pics, it was taken with my cheap mobile phone applying decals at these wheels is not an easy job for me... luckily there's only one pair that have to be applied (jaques' bike) some carbonized parts Last edited by auditions; 01-23-2010 at 09:18 PM. |

Welcome and a happy new year to you too.
All is looking great so far, so keep up the good work. Too bad for some blurry pictures. Maybe you have to use a macro function on your camera. At the moment I'm also working in the Tech3 yamaha. The project was on hold for a while due to some work on my house, but will be started again right now. |

Re: 3 in 1 work YAMAHA YZR 500
Little update on the Front forks and cowling works:
oh please note that the YAMAHA MARLBORO (max biaggi's) is not included in this WIP, i just put them off to clean it up from dust. That Marlboro was built almost 8 years ago. But there's nothing to be taken pride in it especially when i see it and try to look for any detailing job on it. CAUSE there's NONE . photos when the some body parts was attached to the frame hey guys, thanks for looking and i'll posting some again soon. CnC are always appreciated. Re: 3 in 1 work YAMAHA YZR 500
Sorry for taking so long to post some images.
here are some pics of the almost completed bikes (99%) For the RedBull and Gauloises i added nothing like PE and others, only some CF decals, while for the Norick bike's livery i used decals from musseum collection. decals from museum collections are pretty awesome in the printing, but if we talked about the usage, being patience is the most important thing in applying them cause it is not as soft as other decals such as from studio27, although mark softer has play a big role, still it takes time to apply it however, Here are the 99% finished pics: Norifumi Abe's 1998 YAMAHA YZR 500 Team Rainey Garry McCoys' 1999 YAMAHA YZR 500 Team REDBULL OLIVIER JAQUES' 2001 YAMAHA YZR 500 Gauloises Racing Team Thanks for looking guys. Re: 3 in 1 work YAMAHA YZR 500
Very nice work. I really like how you did the heat stains on the exhaust, very convincing. Even if you built one bike, if would be a great wip, but to do 3? Wow. You have made a very impressive assembly line there. The finished bikes are beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
