Castrol 10 W-40 to Quaker State 10W-30

I have a 92 Honda Prelude with 130,000 miles on it. Because of the high miles, I don't run synthetic, however, I have been running since i bought it on Castrol 10 W-40 Regular motor oil. Since the winter is coming, I have been considering running Quaker State 10W-30 so the oil will heat up faster and prevent sludging. However, I have heard that Castrol is a lot better, and I don't want crappy oil blowing my engine up. What would you guys reccomend?

Re: Castrol 10 W-40 to Quaker State 10W-30

All major brands of oil are good otherwise they wouldn't be on the market. It's more a personal pref. than anything.
10w-40 & 10w-30 are in the same state when cold so running a 5w-30, 0w-30, or 0w-40 would be ideal for winter.

bascially the first digits 10w indicate the oil thickness when cold and the second digits indicate it's thickness when warm. lower #'s are lighter, higher numbers are heavier.
