Question 91 G20 Good Buy?

My sister is looking at a 91 g20 with 124k on it. I have a 93.5 g20 and was wondering what the differences between the 2 are and if there are any problmes or other things on the car she should look for? Thanks

Heh. You're not far from where my G20 came from (Forest Park area). In fact, I used to work in the area.

Anyway.....

The main differences between a 91 and 93.5 is the 91 has belts on a mouse while the 93.5 has politicians (airbags). I can't remember, but the 93.5 may have chrom door handles (I'm sure you remember ). I'm not sure if the 93.5 has the fold-down seat, but the 91 does not.

Otherwise, the other differences I'm aware of are simply colors (in/out). There might be stereo differences, but I don't pay attention to that.

One BIG difference between a 91 and 93.5 is that the 91 uses R12 refrigerant and the 93.5 uses R134a. The R12 is $$$$ and will get harder to come by since they dont make it anymore.

Oh yes! VERY good point. The 91 can be converted, but it's not quite as good as a system designed for 134a. Small difference in effectiveness. Big difference in recharge cost, but getting closer actually.

THe 93.5 has the high port engine with no AIV. I think that is the only SR20DE model sold in N/A that had that combination.

If you want any G20 come to Canada, I believe all G20's sold from 91 thorugh 93.5 (not sure about later) came with a limited slip diffential. My 93.5 G20 auto has the limited slip, I think it was only an option in the US that year.

Tell her to check the power seat belts. These are found 91-93 and often the motor wears out. The motor is quite expensive to fix.
