Question B series with an i-VTEC? Possible?

I've been wondering if it's possible to convert a B series engine from VTEC to i-VTEC, or does i-VTEC hit specs for the K series engines only?

No, the only thing you can mix a k head with is the s2000 f20.

Well, I think he's guessing that the new S2000s are still running the F series engines, and that the new S2000s have i-VTEC.

The reason why the K series heads won't work with the B series blocks is that the K series runs backwards.

WTF ..... to you too

The S2000's ARE still running the F series engines, and the new s2000's do NOT have i-VTEC.

and your last comment makes no sense either. i always thought it was the b series that ran backwards, and the k series ran fowards. and even if they ran in the same direction, they still wouldn't fit.

Yes Honda engines up to 2002 ,I think was the year, turned backwards, but now the turn the clockwise. So the motor is turned around in the engine bay too, the intake manifold is toward the front bumper and the exhaust manifold is in the back by the fire wall, and the tranny is on the driver's side now too.

Re: B series with an i-VTEC? Possible?

The new s2000 runs a F22C1. And NO it isn't i-vtec. If someone has some proof that you can swap a K series head on it, then bust it out, because I'd like to see it, but till then it is the same as mounting a D series motor onto a B series block.

It doesn't matter which way the motor faces, you still can't convert a B series to i-vtec, the parts are not interchangable.

Ahh yes that does not sound like it would work to me either, I was just tring to clear up the direction topic, not agree about the S2000 motor being able to accept a K series head lol.

I was reading more on the subject and what I originally read was wrong. The F is related to the K but not enough to interchange parts.

Additionally, our research has shown that the K-series head from the RSX Type S is a poor, but close relation to the F20C head, thus what is effective for the F20C should help the K20 as well.
