Cheap and easy Lowering Kits
Hello everyone,
Long time reader, first time poster. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on lowering my 93 Probe. I'm trying to do it as easy and cheap as possible until I finally park it for rebuild. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: Cheap and easy Lowering Kits
The cheapest way will probably be lowering springs, but you'll probably need camber plates up front, maybe in the back as well. Don't go super cheap and just lower it without re-aligning it. Not only will it be dangerous to drive, you'll end up spending more money in tire wear than you would on a proper alignment.

Re: Cheap and easy Lowering Kits
take an angle grinder and cut a few coils out of the stock springs.

Re: Cheap and easy Lowering Kits
Yeah, cutting springs sucks. Stress fractures, unpredictable rates and lowering, terrible handling, its a recipe for a horrible idea.
I got a complete set of four coils for my car off Ebay for $189. Already engineered for my car, tried, tested, proven... there is NO reason to cut springs. If you can't afford $200 to do it right, then don't do it.
