How to import a BMW Z3 in California ?
Dear List Members,
My first name is Bernard, living in Paris, France. I am a new US Resident in California and I am willing to bring my own customized BMW Z3 (1996) in L.A. What are precisely the procedures to follow with U.S. Customs, and then Department of Motor Vehicles of California ? What is the best transportation system (and safest) to bring the car to L.A. from France or either Germany ? What are the technical modifications (if there would be)to bring to this roadster to meet U.S. requirements regarding this type of vehicle ? Last but not the least, what cost I could expect for all the operations ? Basically, the Z3 has been conceived for the U.S. market and as a result many parts are marked "Made in USA" on it. I would be most grateful if some members (BMW Z3 owners) of this Forum could be so kind enough to share their own experience with me on that topic and bring some lights how to proceed . Last question, does anybody know what is the US equivalent of the 95 Unleaded grade(Super Sans Plomb 95) in french gas stations? Thank you very much in advance for your help. Cheers, Bernard |
