95 escort wont start
i have a 95 ford escort lx 1.9 with 189k miles on it me and my wife was going to get my daughter from school. it was running fine then it made a thonk type noise and cut off..it has fuel pressure and i looked the the plugs n wires and changed them..i put on a new coil pack and ignition module..it will crank but not start any ideas?

Do you have spark? I am thinking timing belt if no spark. If you do have spark I am not sure what else it could be.

Agree with Shortbus, broken timing belt. When it cranks over does it sound like there is not any compression??? I am nt familier with the engin but can you see the valve tappets when you have the oil cap off, if so have someone crank the engine and watch for tapppet moveoment, if none belt broken.

yes i have spark but not a very strong spark..would the camshaft position sensor cause this?

Sounds like the timing belt. That is usually the case when it dies while driving like that.
