Brakes not working correctly
My daughters 95 sable brakes just dont work correct.ABS disconnected. When I panic stop the wheels will not lock up, if fact I sort of drift to a stop. If I brake torq with the brakes on the car moves forward, brakes wont hold the car. The power assist seems to be working but I will check the vacume next. I have replaced the master cyl 2 times without any change. Replaced last year both rear clogged brake hoses. When I bleed the brakes the fluid if flowing good and clear. I will bleed the rear brakes again. Im at a loss, I am afraid to let my daughter drive the car. How can I power bleed the system? Note this car is temporary cause she must drive in to Detroit for college and must replace, but that is in a few months.R

Re: Brakes not working correctly
I have found rotors replaced with the wrong size bearings this causes the rotor to be at an angle. Putting the calipers on the wrong side. This puts the bleed screw at the bottom. The bleed screw should be at the top of the caliper. Replacing the vacuum assist without adjusting the push rod for the brakes.
A problem with the hoses to the calipers. Some times you need a scan tool to bleed properly with abs system. You can also buy a power bleeder or pay to have it done. |
