How much money does Ferrari profit in a year?

Here's what I came up with.

FERRARI 2005 Profit Estimate

Estimated 1,644 cars to be sold in 2005 times $228,886.00 USD average cost of each vehicle equals $376,288,584.00 USD.

Yes, you read that right--
three hundred and seventy six million, two hundred and eighty eight thousand, five hundred and eighty four united states dollars.

That amount does not deduct employee payroll, marketing, engineering, metal, machinery, motorsports, or the light bill, but I think it should cover it.

But let's figure that all in for fun.

Let's say an average employee makes $50.00 USD per hour. Times 40 hours per week = $2,000.00 USD. Times 48 working weeks for the year = $96,000.00 USD. Times about 200 employees = $19,200,000.00 USD.

Now let's say all seven of the things above cost $19,200,000.00 USD each annually. Yes, even the light bill. Times 7 = $134,400,000.00 USD.

Subtract that from their sales from the beginning of this article

$376,288,584.00 USD
-$134,400,000.00 USD
---------------------
$241,888,584.00 USD is what they have left over.

Yep, I think they know what they are doing.

Did you just pull the costs out of your butt or do you have a copy of there financials? I believe that porsche was the most profitable auto company last year. Dunno about that though. Ferrari is at a disadvantage because of small production numbers although they have probably see large increases due to the introduction of the 360/430.

R&D costs have to be high because Ferarri can't just make another cookie cutter car every couple of years, those cars are quality. Parts aren't cheap either. Plus they sponsor a number of motorsports....

It's been known for years and years and years that Ferrari hardly turns a profit. They've struggled greatly just to be able to finance new endevors and keep things current. They make most of their money through F1 from what I understand.

Sounds to me like you're trying to say, "a company making a profit is a bad thing". I wish Ferrari did make that much in profit every year. If they did the technology would be to the nth degree of what we see now. They don't make that much money off of a car. The only reason Enzo started producing cars in the first place was to finance his racing.

Anyone with a business knows that bottom line profits are very controllable because you define the expenses. In the US, public companies have less control over that figure than private companies but they still have control. If your shareholders will accept it, you can set up your company to have ZERO profit after all expenses. As TexasF355 said, the racing budget hits the financials before the bottom line and lowers the profit considerably. And... if you didn't have the racing involvement(which is like an advertising expense), you probably wouldn't be able to sell the cars over the long term.

Profits are probably in the 20% mark. I don't think any manufacturer goes higher than that. But again, their cars are just brand, and are not the best engineered around.

Ferrari makes more money a year selling hats, keychains, t-shirts, and other trash to hacks who read forums like this. If you can't afford a Ferrari atleast you can look great in our hats. That should be their new slogan!!!!
