93 Accord engine swap to 96 Prelude VTec
I need more power and this just isnt cutting it. Looking for advice on swapping engines. I'm thinking about going from my 93 Accord engine to a 96 Prelude VTEC. I've heard that this engine should bolt right up. Also want to change from Automatic to Manual trans.
Thanks for the advice Skip :sun: |

i wouldn't say that a h22 would be a straigth bolt in. it requires some wiring for the v-tec thing. it's not a hard thing to do, it was done before. if u want a bolt in you should get the h23 engine which does not require any adittional wiring, and can work with your f22 ecu. H23 will work better with turbo's because of lower compression ratio.
Auto to manual: it is easy to be done, but it will require some welding (relocating a tranny mount), and a new ecu. it is gonna get some loot out of ur pocket, but the ride will be damn sweet. putting an h22 engine on the car will change the whole weight distribution ratio, which will cause ur ride to be crappy, but it can be fixed with work on the suspension part.

Hey thanks for all the info. Will consider the H23 but I think I'm going to drop the H22A1 in.

in addition to the article i would say that the accord tranny is geared for fuel economy, while the prelude tranny is for faster acceleration and more speed.
