2001 Passport, No leaks, strong gasoline smell.
Every time I start this car there is a strong smell of gasoline. I've already checked for leaks and didn't find any. Could this be caused by the fuel canister in the rear of the vehicle this has gone bad?
What the heck is causing this? Thanks in advance. |

Re: 2001 Passport, No leaks, strong gasoline smell.
This use to happen to me on my LRII and I found out (too late) that the connection at the Schrader valve.....that's where the gas line connects to the fuel rail was misting on idle. While driving one day I had a catastrophic fire and the entire truck was lost. Had to fight progressive for almost 4 months before they decided to pay the claim.

The flex tube on the exhaust may be broken.
My truck always smells rich too for the first 2-3 minutes.
