97 Rodeo Ocassional Starting Problem
A few months ago my 3.2 started acting up. Sometimes it would fire right up and other times not. I changed the fuel pressure regulator but it didn't make a difference. The Rodeo always runs fine sfter starting. I also was considering changing the cam and crankshaft sensors but saw something interesting the other day. When I turn the ignition switch to on but before turning the starter over if the fuel gauge does not move the engine won't fire but if it the fuel gauge has power then the igition will fire and the engine runs smooth, never missing. Obviously something electrical going on here. Could it be the ignition swith, a relay, something else? Any help would be appreciated. As an added note when the switch is turned on the amp meter always has power and moves regardless if the fuel guage moves or not.
