some crazy stuff with my truck plz take a look

hello i got a 94 s10 chevy and well i went to start my truck up today and well she didnt start didnt even make a clicking noise on my starter but when i was trying to start it up smoke came from ym steering collom and and so i took my starter off rehooked up the wire that fell of and now my keys dont even have to be in the truck and if i put the pos cable to the pos battey termenal it sparks bad and it actully trys to turn the truck over and yet my keys are in my pocket so plz help me this is my work truck thank you"

My initial guess would be that the ignition switch may be shorted, or the starter solenoid may be failing. On a '94, the ignition switch should be on the left side of the column, opposite the lock cylinder, and just below the trim covers.
