93 prelude vs. spec-V
ok so last night i was checkin out some cars at a local hotspot when i heard some people were goin to run. so i head up to the place and the first race was with a stock 91 hatch(one of my buddie's) and a basically stock spec-V. race went, and spec-V ended up smokin the hatch by about 2-3 cars. afterwords i was goin to give him props and ask him what hes done to the car but before i could he starts goin off on how 'it just seems no one can run with me!' as he said. then he starts callin me out sayin how hes always wanted to smoke a prelude. He said all he had was a short ram and muffler tip. so i said fine. at first i thought i had a pretty good launch but man, wtf those spec-Vs r quick as shit off the line. (for FWD) he pulled on me hard thru first. so im at his rear door panel thru first and second and near the end of second i start to pull real slowly. then by middle of 3rd were'd dead even and right when i thought it was gunna be a draw he seems to gas out as i pull more and more and by the end of 4 i had a good 1- 1 1/2 cars on him when we shut down. funny thing is, he didnt even have the balls to say anything to me afterwords.

Re: 93 prelude vs. spec-V
Spec-V owners tend to get cocky, because in daily street-driving, against most other compacts, it's relatively high N/A TQ, low gearing, and LSD, usually gets it ahead for most of a street-race, which usually never gets into 4th - which gives the illusion that they're faster, which they are - but only to a certain point.
Cool thing about classic SE-R's is that it has the same oomph off the line as the Spec (when it has a healthy clutch ), with a redline of 7500rpms, for the higher-speed grunt.

Back when i first got my 5-speed in i was learning how to race it and raced one of those. Damn, those things are slow. I thought it would be quicker. We launched from first, we were neck and neck until i hit like 3,500rpms and my car began spinning like a bitch. So i shifted to second and spun ALL the way through second gear. Then i fuckin missed 3rd, finally hit 3rd and caught up to him and passed him before 90mph. Maybe there was something wrong with that car....i dont know but damn there slow.
Oh yeah what is there 1/4 e.t. times like?

Very similar to your Mustang GT's when it was stock. You sure that was a SpecV you were racing?

Nice kill!
Spec Vs aren't much top end, they're geared for guys to go bombing around the city in, so they're quick as hell off the line but have not energy up top. I found this out in my brief selling career with Nissan before i moved on to Ford. I had one a demo for a few weeks and it was great stop-light to stop-light, but when i took her out on the freeway it lost it's jam. Just fast enough to keep you entertained.

Re: 93 prelude vs. spec-V
yeah, i woulda preferred smoking him all the way completely but thats not realistic. and wins r so much greater when its a head to head matchup and the other guys an asshole. that was my closest match yet(besides a modded grs).
