70 1/2 camaro good for a 7.50 sec 1/4 mile!!

I like to alternate between a detailed build then a quick build then a detailed, finished the cutaway enzo a few weeks ago just finished a gallardo ( 7 day build!! ) now this bad boy

A little intro on this project, it's AMT 70 1/2 camaro

Pretty much just using the shell, dash, glass and maybe the door trims the rest will be made up of a door slammer donor, some resin bits and some scratch bits and pieces

I started on the dash, there will be 4 autometer gauges going in there and a monster tacho on the steering coloum

a little bit of putty to cover in some detail i don't want

while i had the putty out, i filled in where the side mirrors would be

The planned motor required more space then allocated so i had to remove the wheel wells and cut right back to the windsheild, i will be scratching a new fire wall later on

that's all for today kids comments are always welcome good or bad!!

That's a lot of ORANGE plastic!
Just how big a motor is going in there?

Re: 70 1/2 camaro good for a 7.50 sec 1/4 mile!!

I have just ordered the motor and some other goodies for the camaro, hopefully no more than 2 weeks away ( usa to australia )

The motor is going to be a ross gibson Road Hammer Supercharged 808 Hemi, i have never had a gibson engine before but i read there pretty good!

Just been doing some work on the chassis, i'm using a door slammer chassis that needs some small mods to fit in the camaro shell

extended the front just a little bit, and have done quite a bit of work on the rear tubs to get then to fit but not finished yet

needed to make a new fire wall,

old

new

also installed the engine trusses

enjoy!!

Nice work on the chassis mods. That 808 is gonna be huge. I'm looking forward to seeing more work from you.

Congrats mate.

Look forward to the continuation here when(ever) you find time again.....
I loved your cut-away Enzo in Brisbane, and I reckon this build will eclipse that.

Good luck with it, and the new family mate.
cheers
Greg

hey!

first up, welcome to AF!

door-slammer's are a type of drag car, maybe it's just us aussie's that call them door-slammer's?

i think u guys might call them pro mods? either way, im using the '55 sportsman kit by revell as the doner kit

BTW guys, i haven't given up on this thing, just had a few kits on the bench atm

tho i have changed the motor as it's way to big to fit in this, and past my skills to mod and make it fit

but the new motor is still nice and looks a little more at home in the chassis

here's a few pics of the new motor a bit smaller at 615ci

still working on the wheel wells

This will be great, looking forward to seeing your work. Even this smaller engine looks huge.

You said that this one was smaller, it still is on the large side, but looks good in the car!

Did you end up getting an airbrush, if don't mind me asking?

Door slammer: Cars that you enter through the doors, rather than through the window opening or by lifting the body like funny cars.

The "smaller" motor looks great in there. I think you should take all the stock camaro leftovers and stuff them into a 69 AMT Nova (the "old pro" kit) and change it into an Olds Omega or Buick Skyhawk.
