changing oil on 2001 e320

I know this may sound lame but can anyone run down the step by step of changing engine oil on 2001 e320. I'm a newbie to the mb world and want to know if it can be done myself other than dropping it off to the dealer. Any special tools needed? and does the filter have to be removed from bottom or top of engine?

Re: changing oil on 2001 e320

the only special tool you need is the oil filter wrench. the first thing you have to do is remove the the oil filter housing and oil filler cap. the oil filter housing is on the top front driver side of the engine. then you have to remove the cover under the engine(8mm) to get to the drain plug(13mm). make sure you change the O rings on the oil filter housing and the drain plug should be replaced also. the engine holds 8.5qt of 0W40 syntetic oil. put 8qts in first then check.
