I remember when.............
I thought you all might be interested in a trip down memory lane. These are pics of models I built when I was a kid. I was about 12 or 13 when these were built ( 25 years ago). I was into contests even then and as you can see, I did all right.
this was my first attempt at as custom.I grafted a front clip from '53 vette to a '57 chevy. The pic is a little fuzzy but the candy red paint was glass smooth . I used to love old willy's this is Revells old kit I got a few more if you all would like to see them. |

That's cool!
I've got the first car I built as an adult around somewhere... Nothing survived from my youth though.

Wow...memories. Remember the van kits, by Monogram I think, that had lift kits on them and came with a trailer with two dirt bikes or an early model 4-wheeler (can't recall the name, but it was like a 4wd go-kart with a body and roll cage that was much faster that a go-kart). <sigh> Wish I still had those....or those Willies dragsters, my big model (1/12 scale I think) of the General Lee, etc...
My friend Billy's older brother had a really cool van kit (another really big one) that was very detailed inside, it had a bed, a stereo with a reel to reel tape player and a wet bar. We started building it, but unfortunatly never finished...wonder whatever became of that kit?

Yeah. Lots of older kits get very valuable when they get older. Right now, like the kits you can buy, your like oh, you can just go down to the hobby store and buy them. Then about 20 years later, you try and find them, and its just impossible.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep that in mind the next time I want to throw a kit away.
