Re: launching

depends on the conditions...but usually around 3200-3500....i put some pretty good tires on it so they catch pretty quickly..if ur tires spin when u race ... ur launching to high,

Re: launching

A small amount of wheel spin is good but alot is toomuch. If you have no wheel spin then you are launching too low, the motor will just bog then pickup and that is slower than just a small amount of wheel spin.

with my stock 13''s i launched at 3000 and with my toyo t1-s 205/55/15 i launch at 6800. but i just bought some used 20/8/14 M/T slicks.
and have no idea what to launch at, and i dont want to go to the track next spring looking like a fool. so if anyone has the same size slicks on their teg let me know a good rpm to launch at and how much air you take out.

Be careful launching at real high rpms with slicks can destroy your differential, and/or break other things like axles and toast your clutch if it is stock.

i dout i'll even have to launch as high as my 15's cuz the slicks are 3'' smaller in diameter than my 15's and only a 1/2'' wider. ive also had (215/35/18 with parada tires and only had to launch at 5500 and they were the same size in diameter as my 15's my toyos are some sticky ass tires.

Re: launching

you should feather ur clutch. try at 3000, and when u feel the car is about to peel, release the clutch peddle alittle. that way, u dont peel.

Re: launching

MAN 6,800RPM......seems like a waste of some of you power band, but i dont know your set up

i have an LS and i launch at 4k, and i think it is nearly perfict, plus it is easy to keep it there when looking at it in the corner of your eye cause the needle goes straight up. it was too high but i went out and bought an ACT stage III clutch and some FALKINS.

Re: launching

i have a 2900 lb clutch. so my preferance is lanching low, but feathering works in every application. if you have a stock clutch, feathering could be used when shifting to 1st and 2nd. after that, you shouldnt have a peeling problem

thats with 20psi in the tires, but even if i put 44psi wich is the max psi i would still have to launch at atleast 5000 to beable to peel out.
anyways cant anyone ansure my question? does nobody in here use slicks???

each car/driver will react differenty to slicks, so you should make multiple runs to see what works best. I highly suggest upgrading the axles with something like the TCI 300HP's.
