1999 Dodge Ram P/U Starting Problems

i tried to crank my 1999 Dodge 1500 PU with a 3.9L V6 this morning and it turned over to start but my foot slipped off the clutch which it has a safety switch on the clutch pedal and it stalled in the middle of cranking and then when i reset the clutch pedal to crank it again all it does is click the solenoid and would not start so i went and bought another starter but all it does is still click the starter and will to engage to turn the engine over so i roll it off and it cranks and when you try to engage the starter now with it running the solenoid hits the flywheel and grinds what could be wrong with it..?
Country: United States
Make: Dodge
Model: RAM 1500
