Exclamation 06 ss s/c fuel recommendations

Im looking at getting a 2006 cobalt ss s/c. I know forced induction = higher combustion presser which = higher octane fuel. Just wanting to know if any one is/has run 87 or 89 octane fuel, and if so will it cause an engine ping. Don't want to burn a valve or put a hole in a piston. Any help is apperciated.
