How to dis-assemble Minichamps McLaren F1 1/12 model
Need help.
I have started (sort of) my own conversion project to convert Minichamps die-cast into a static model of LeMans 1995 winning car. And second step is to dis-assemble die-cast model. I've removed all bottom screws. I've found 6 so far, 4 bigger and 2 smalls ones. However chassis and body don't want to come apart still. Front is coming out, but it looks like something is holding the rear part. If anyone knows, please explain me how to take it apart ? I suspect I'm missing something. It looks like there could be 2 more screws at the top of rear wheel arcs. They are hard to see and impossible to reach without removing rear wheels. Is there a way to remove rear wheels on this die-cast ? Thanks a lot in advance for help. Last edited by lezdep; 07-01-2017 at 05:33 PM. |

I took one apart once and recall the same issue. It is not fresh in my mind, so I'll have to look at it again and try to get you an answer later.

Okay - yeah. Those rear wheel arch screws are the issue holding you back.
I carefully removed the tires from the wheels and was able to access them without removing the wheels themselves. You will still need a long and fairly thin screwdriver and it is a #1 Phillips head. >8^) ER |

Thank you so much for helping me out. I have to remove wheels anyway, as I will need to replace them with racing ones.
So, I will try to carefully remove centre caps and then get stock wheels out. How is your own project going ? Are you doing a conversion as well ? |

No project here - it just needed a small repair.

Reviving this thread to ask if anyone has any suggestions regarding a missing passenger side mirror on a 1:12 Minichamps F1? Has anyone ever parted out a broken model?

Re: How to dis-assemble Minichamps F1 1/12 model ?
Bringing this one back from the dead once again to ask if anyone can help identify a small part from the 1/12 scale Minichamps model?
I bought one recently on Ebay and when it arrived there was something sliding around in the box. Fearing the worst I opened it to discover a small black piece which has 2 tiny areas of silver applied. I've studied the model pretty carefully and I've no idea where this could have come from. There was also a spring wedged on top of the rear of the engine under the small flip-up panel. I'm fairly certain it has to be from the rear suspension but how it found it's way to the top of the engine is anybody's guess. |

A late reply, but I've looked all over mine and don't see a part that could be related to your extra piece there. Doesn't look terribly important.
You're right about the spring - it belongs down in there. >8^) ER |
