clutch ?? plz help!
ok first off i want to say a big big thankyou to boschmann (sp ?) who saved me lots of money when he told me to fix my starter motor and for 2 weeks my car was fun to drive and back to being the great means of transportation that it can be.
but last night my clutch made a popping feeling and went limp. now the tow truck guy mentioned it could be the cable or the friction plate/ pressure plate (?). he played with the clutch pedal and looked under the car at the cable and he seemed to think it was still intact but he still wasnt completely positive. anybody have any ideas as to what it could be! any help is great help. thx |

It's not too hard. If you did the starter you can do it too. I believe you have to push the old cable and housing out into the passenger compartment, then push the new one back in from inside too.

the way i had to do it was to unhook it from the pedal then pull it out. then loosen the two nut that set the play and put the new one in its place and set it according to the sounds of grinding or not grinding during shifting. the book says that the pedal should sit flush with the brake pedal and have 5-15 mm of play before engaging the clutch.
