speaker power

okay i have my subs hooked up to my amp out, and run 2 speakers off the face, and that's all the speakers that are hooked up. a few weeks ago, when i was on a long ride, the music got softer from the speakers; if i turned it off for a few min it would be fine, then happen again. this happened 2 times, then didn't happen again. then today the speakers just stopped working altogether, but the subs worked still. i turned it off and it did it again. i turned it off yet another time, and then it started working fine, hasn't turned off since. any ideas?

I once had a similar problem with a HU, my very first Panasonic, and the internal amps had stopped working. At first they'd come back on after I turned the radio off, and a few weeks later it just wouldn't put out any sound. They changed the main chip (don't ask me why) and it fixed the problem. It was under warranty back then. I bought the deck in 2000 and my friend who bought it off me still uses it and it hasn't had any other problems.
