the cx and vx tranny comes with a 5 spd. its low gear ratio help the car to get good gas mileage. People noticed with longer ratios it helps the car stay in gear longer with a turbo/supercharger. Plus a little bit better gas mileage while crusin but i dont u care too much cuz u going f/i--force injection.

umm, I dont get what that has to do with your tranny problem. I mean you want a stronger tranny, the vx or cx will just ware out like the si tranny, Also I do not think that is a good Idea, My friends cousin put a sohc vtec engine into a 95" Cx hb, kept the cx tranny with the sohc and all he does is complain about it, I raced him and he takes me off the line but a little through second and a lot in 3rd I burn him. Not sure if it is something else but he complains about his tranny... Just my 2 cents

Not sure if it is something else but he complains about his tranny... Just my 2 cents, I too want to build up my sohc vtec, My b16 plans went down the drain when the engine smoked when started, So now I will go with the Gude bullfrog head, gains 49 hp off that, they guarenteed me 14's with exhaust intake, and headers, mid to high 14's actually, then a turbo and that will put me in the 13's hopefully. Then I buy some new cylinder sleeves have them bored to 82mm and get some pistons and its smoking z06 vettes for me. My advice is just to get an excedy or ACT clutch and deal with that, go get a new tranny, I just got one out of 99 ex, 9k on it for 175.00, The deals are out there go grasshopper....

you are right what does it have to do with a stronger tranny actually nothing to do with it. Stronger tranny is like stronger gears flywhell and also heavy duty parts from the clutch. We are talking about turboing a engine having a tranny with longer gears helps and i cant even tell you why cuz i dont know i read about it in many articals. What your friend has is n/a sohc engine. If he/she decides to turbo that motor with longer gears i think and believe that your friend do not have to shift as often and still have power at top it. I might be wrong if any1 know different please break it down for us.

If you want a "stronger" tranny, look for a good clutch, good flywheel and also have the gears heat treated... other then that not much else you can do...

Oh and someone mentioned something about shooting for a "b18c1" tranny... B series trannies do not bolt upto D series motors
