Remote Programming for 2001 Grand Prix Reprogramming
I have tried 2 methods which do not work.... does anyone have the real method on how to Program keyless entry remotes to my 2001 Grand Prix. I bought my car used then purchased 2 remotes for my car online. I would hate to pay 100.00 at the dealer to get this done.

Re: Remote Programming for 2001 Grand Prix Reprogramming
Well, I have read that some thing work differently from 2000 and up. I have a 98 and this is how I reprogrammed the controls. There is a small fuse on the fuse block located on the glove compartment. It is called the MALL PGM fuse. Take it off and press the lock/unlock buttons on each remote one at a time for at least 7 seconds. If it works you would get a chime from the car after each remote is programmed. That worked for my 98. Let me know if it works on you 2001.

do a search for "programming" under this forum. You'll find all kinds of years of GP's to program, though they are all the same instructios.

I just programmed my remotes for a 2001 GP SE... Here is a summary of the procedure (with my comments) right out of the factory service manual fon an '01
1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition lock cylinder. 2. Close all the doors. 3. Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the fuse block. 4. Insert ignition key into lock cylinder 5. Turn the ignition to ACC. The Body Control Module (BCM) will perform the following: flash the seat belt indicator, and chime (mine chimed 4 times) 6. Turn ignition to OFF, and then back to ACC within 1 second ( do this very fast... more like a 1/2 second..if you wait too long it won't work) 7. Open then close any door (you know you did the previous step right if you hear a short beep and see the seatbelt light flash) 8. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for approx 14 seconds. (after about 7 the BCM will beep once to confirm the synch. has been completed) 9. Repeat the previous step in order to program each additional remote 10. Remove the key 11. Re-install the MALL PGM fuse 12. you're done Its kind of a tricky process it took me about 3 trys to get it right. Maybe I should have mentioned this before... make sure you have the AU0 RPO code on the sticker on the underside of the trunklid... if you don't see the AU0 code you don't have the option to support the keyless entry Hope this helps Dan |
