[color=purple]I recently overheated and ultimately blew up my '94 Grand Cherokee. My husband knows quite a bit about engines and is planning on fixing this himself to cut the costs of repairs, etc. What we're wondering is if anybody knows how to make some of the tools needed to rebuild this kind of engine as opposed to buying them, or if there are any good substitutions. Anybody have any good tips for this kind of project... ... ...?

do you have an autozone near you?
The rent specialty tools free of charge only a refundable deposit is required. They most likely will have many of the tools you need

borrowing them from auto-zone or another store with a simular policy is a much better way to go.

you can build any tool you need (after all some-one built the one for sale). but unless the tool is way over priced and you are very experienced in making tools, you won't save anything in the process, unless your time goes for very cheap (pennies on the hour).
