Automatic Transmission

Can someone help me with my 83 Dj5 series Jeep?Any suggessions will be appreciated .
First is oil leak comming inside the bell housing,a mechanic told me it is engine oil not Tranny.
Second is a bang when I first shift either Drive or Reverce with my foot on the brake,But if I don't step on the brakes, "nothing".

If the leak is at the rear and its not tranny fluid then it might be the rear main seal.

The noise when you shift into drive or reverse sounds like an old u-joint that has too much play in it. Check you rear drive line to see if one or more of your u-joints needs replacement or just tightened into place.
