That is open loop and limp home mode.

The MAF is not a $300 part. About $100-$150.

Re: Loss of power in a weird way.....

you are right, some people what to save money the first time, and some want to do it right the first time, just for an example, if you knew the number of people who brought their cars to us because they had ego code, changed their oxy. sencor with an autozone one, and it didnt help because the product is shit... not every thing is made with equil quality or price, and you realy do get what you pay for

Funny, I've never gotten any reach around with my parts purchases at NAPA.

I have the same problem as sirruggie. I have cleaned the maf, complete tune-up (ac delco), and it does exactly what he says. It still runs great 80% of the time but out of nowhere it bogs down like the fan clutch, and the ac compressor have turned on. Heater controls in the off position. How do you go about cleaning the screen side of the maf, the one side easy but how do you get the other side really clean. I have about 125,000 on mine. I'me also getting these codes:
Codes: P0410 - SECONDARY AIR INJECTION MALFUNCTION
P1416 - MANUFACTURER CONTROLLLED AUX EMISSIONS

Would this be a possible cause of the problem? Thanks for any info

loss of power in a wierd way

I have a similar problem where my engine will almost die on hard accel from a stop. Mileage is about 12-13 in the city and about 15-17 highway. Complete tune-up done. Installed Bosch platinum plugs which i now understand may be a problem. Major bog. Do i just disconnect the MAF sensor or remove it completely? There is a screen on my sensor so how do i clean it? Do i need to change my plugs again?
