Fluid leaking

Now please read the post fully, before you respond telling me the leak is Anti Freeze

Today I noticed a bright neon green fluid leaking under my car, as you did, I automatically assumed anti freeze. As there is 8 inches of snow on the ground, I didn't go under to locate the leak, but rather figured I would top it off and wait for good weather. Upon grabbing my anti freeze jug, and poping the hood, I realized, I have used nothing but the red colored anti freeze for the past few years. Upon checking the reservoir, I found what I expected, red antifreeze, same thing when I popped the cap to the radiator.

I decided to check the rest of my fluid levels, and found the only thing low, is my break fluid (which was flushed and refilled in late august, and is not green.)

Any idea of what this could be other than anti freeze?

Re: Fluid leaking

To add, I discovered the leak after a 30 min drive, I never had an issue with overheating, and the heater worked fine. This is for a 2002 Avalon

Re: Fluid leaking

Did you see it dripping from your car's undercarriage or just notice a puddle? It may have been from another vehicle parked there.

You can also check the puddle by sniffing it for that antifreeze odor. If it really is so, then it's not yours.

Otherwise, I can think of no neon-green-colored fluids in your Av. Old brake fluid can turn a dark green. Some fresh differential lube oils can look greenish, but yours might use transmission fluid instead. Even if it did use gear oil, it would be old and thus dark colored.

Park elsewhere without a puddle and check again.

Hope this helps!
