transmission concern

2002 LS V8 162K Miles.

Its been sitting in the garage for 10 days. ...went on vacation. Started her up and let it idle down. Shifted to reverse and transmission shift error displayed. Went back to P. Waited a minute. Shifted again and she was hard jumping into the gears. The error went away. Drove it around and it seems to shift fine. Opinions?

Re: transmission concern

I'd just keep driving and see if it acts up again. If so, it's probably the valve body/shift solenoid issue that's covered in a TSB. You could also try starting with a fluid and filter change if it's been awhile since that has been performed.

Ok i'll do the fluid filter this week. Can you point me to that TSB you mentioned? I would like to read it.

Thanks

Re: transmission concern

Here's a teaser for the related TSB. If you'd like the full text, send me a Private Message with the request and an e-mail address and I'll send you a PDF of the full TSB. I see this only lists the 2004-2005 LS. I thought there was a similar TSB for the earlier LS but if so, I don't appear to have a copy of it.

Re: transmission concern

had the transmission flushed. what a difference new fluid makes. it shifts nice and smooth again, and that light thump when shifting from 2 to 3 is gone too.
