Question Explorer Air Bag Diagnostic Code 36?

I own a 2000 Ford Explorer XLS. The air bag readiness light on my instrument panel flashes upon start up and then goes to a solid "on". I've counted the flashes and determined that it is giving me an indicator code of 36. I've searched Ford Air Bag Diagnostic Trouble Codes and all the tables I've found only go up to 35.

Does anyone know what a trouble code 36 means? I have an appointment to bring it to the dealer. But in the meantime, I'm not in any danger of the air bag inadvertently activating on me?

Thanx,
mike

Brought it in to the dealer and it was diagnosed as being a bad driver side air bag module. The part was replaced and luckily it was covered under warrantly. Hope this helps!

Air Bag Light

I have had the same problem with my airbag light for months. How much did the dealership say it would cost had the module not been covered by the warranty?

Re: Explorer Air Bag Diagnostic Code 36?

My 2000 Explorer Sport is flashing a code 37. Oddly enough, it began flashing this code about two miles from the dealers shop after transmission work(valve case....$900). The light flashed for about two weeks and then stopped for about two months. All of a sudden it is flashing again. My independent mechanic, who prefers to fix things rather than just throw parts in, says that it is a problem in the passenger side bag and that he can fix it. My questions are...Is this a common problem?...Any service bulletins?...Is this a dealer repair?...Warranty service is well past, what can I expect the repair to cost?

I am a newcomer to this forun and am grateful for any help that you all might provide.
