Questions Questions and more Questions

Just a few time consuming questions for everyone. My car is a 2001 Honda Prelude all stock.

1.This is the biggest question. I just bought my car from a dealer about a week ago. On the back of the trunk where the Type SH sticker would be was some stick stuff as if there was a small sticker there or maybe just the glue from the previous dealer logo. Well when I got it there we never discussed if it was a SH or not I was pretty sure it wasnt, Plus I wasnted it so bad I forgot to even ask. In the fuse box in side the car near the clutch pedal there are 2 fuses labeled for the ATTS which i am sure you know is the Active Torque Transfer System. There are fuses there intact as well. How can i tell if it is the SH i dont have the title because i am paying payments on it. Is there any other way to tell if it is a SH.

2. Is my car a single stage VTEC or a Dual stage VTEC I am pretty sure it is a single, but i was told diffrent. Just wanted to ask.(H22)

well thanks everyone for helping.
Steve

You should be able to feel the VTEC engage if you had the SH...it car sounds somewhat different when it does engage also...

The sound/feel of VTEC will be the same regardless if you have a base or an SH.

The SH also had a rear lip, and a leather wrapped shift knob.

I thought the base model ludes had the H23 non-vtec while the SH had the H22 VTEC...so it would make sense that if it were a SH you would feel the VTEC and more power than the base model...correct me if im wrong please..

the 92-96 had the H23, that was an Si non-vtec. 97-01 are non-SH with an H22 and SH with the H22 and ATTS

Re: Questions Questions and more Questions

Wow, with all this talk I'm startin to wonder if my lude is an SH like I thought. It has the ground effects that you guys are talkin about, along with a spoiler and a leather shift knob. But, there is no SH badging and there are no courtesy lights on the doors. Hmmm, now I'm not sure if I have a base or an SH. Is there anyway you can tell by the VIN or by ATTS?

Re: Questions Questions and more Questions

In your first post you said there were fuses for the ATTS. Well, only the SH had ATTS so you must have a SH.

Re: Questions Questions and more Questions

The base and SH put out the same amount of power and torque, as far as I know. But, on the SH model the ATTS robs a few horses, nothin big though. What i've read in other posts is that the base is good for drag, but the sh is good for auto xing and ect.

If your oil filter sticks straight out it's a base model. If it sits at an upward angle it's an SH.

Also you'll see an ATTS light on the dash when you start your car (it should go out after a few seconds if it's working).

H22=200hp, 156lbs torque. All H22's have a dual stage intake manifold.

ATTS doesn't rob hp at all. The only reason someone would think so is because the ATTS unit is about 98 lbs. Thats also the reason that a base is better for dragging. Although 100lbs doesnt make much difference, it would depend on the driver.
