1996 Ram 4x4 1500 ideas

I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. I did a few things to it years ago and have pretty much neglected it since then. What I did in the past:

- Jacombs Electronic Ultra coil
- K&N Air Filter
- Replaced Differential gears with lower gearing ( can't remember exactly why or what ratio)
- 33" radials, rub a little front drivers side in a tight turn.
- Headers Jet Hot coating
- 115,000 Miles no major problems
- other stuff not performance related.

I want to get my truck back in shape, I have a 5th wheel I tow with it. My transmission is leaking a little and seems to slip some times.

I'm looking for ideas to get this thing back into a state that I'm confidence in taking my family on a trip with the 5th wheel. More power is always better. I'm also concerned about the brakes. Are there any bood aftermarket disc brakes for this? That is if it's a good idea to use disc brakes? What other forums should I use? Is this the best one? Where can I get after market parts for my truck?

Thanks in advance!

Allen

What motor and trans do you have?

Tow a 5th wheel with a 1500? Not without some extra springs I wouldn't!

If automatic, tou need a Transmission cooler (extra, and not the one you get with the towing package, either).

Use drilled rotors and High quality pads. The brakes are good enough as they are, but you can improve them if you want to spend some money.

post your truck specs back here.

There hasn't been any problem towing. Even before adding the Air Bags. I forgot to mention the Air Bag that I installed. My truck is an automotic 4 speed. The truck has the tranmission cooler, what ohter cooler should I use?

I don't know what kind of towing my truck has done before I got it, but I figure it was some pretty heavy duty stuff because it has the electronic trailer break controls and all of those goodies. As far as I can tell it did fine because it still has the original stock springs and suspension (except for the shocks).
