2014 Cherokee 5 miles and towed.
I picked up my 2014 Cherokee sport today it had 3 miles on it and I got to drive it for 2 miles. I was at 55 on the highway when it started to slow down and the engine was revving up so I coasted to the side and stopped. I put it in park the back in gear and it just revved up. Then the check engine light and the battery lights came on. I had it towed to the dealer and we unloaded the jeep off the ramp truck, rolling freely with the transmission in park. I am not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling with this "jeep"

Ugh, not a good thing to happen, especially in a brand new vehicle.
I'm thinking you will get a new transmission out of this (maybe the trans fluid wasn't filled at the factory?).

Re: 2014 Cherokee 5 miles and towed.
My neighbor has the Trailhawk edition and the very same thing happened to him,the tow truck wasn't able to get to him as he was down in the woods so i took my 96 Cherokee and pulled him out to the main road. Lots of jeep Folks were taking pics and video of my 96 pulling the 2014 Cherokee out of trouble. He ended up getting a new tranny.... My opinion? These new Cherokee are JUNK. i like the interior but other than that ... Junk

Re: 2014 Cherokee 5 miles and towed.
I got the same problem in my 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited, Transmission runs off but I was lucky when I turn the engine off and re started transmission re engage and I was able to drive the car to the dealership (only 19k miles on it). After a diagnostic they toll me that this jeep model engines (2.4) used to burn some oil as a normal condition for this particular engines. My was a little lower so they refill engine oil on it, and after that everything was running great and soft. Recommendation was to keep an eye on oil level time to time because engine is sensitive to lower oil level and tend to stop transmission in order to prevent further damage.
