Re: Gooding will auction McLaren F1 031 in Monterey...

Sure is; sorry I could have, and should have retrospectively, phrased it better.......

I was trying to point that #053 is in vastly more salubrious surroundings than where #031 was recently spotted....

Fact checking is not TopGear's forte...

" It's a very rare, very low-mileage McLaren F1 that sports a white paintjob; the only McLaren F1 with a white paint job... in the world."

Re: Gooding will auction McLaren F1 031 in Monterey...

Hi,

I am also interested by the story about Marlboro White, what I asked on Erik's wall.

Quote:
the car was fitted with a set of new factory wheels finished in black with new tires also acquired from McLaren
Not #069 wheels ?

Quote:
Today, 031 remains an outstandingly pure example. Unlike many F1s, 031 is not known to have been damaged or repainted in its 19 years and was never fitted with the high-downforce kit, a common modification
Common ? You kidding me

Re: Gooding will auction McLaren F1 031 in Monterey...

However the thought of a Marlboro White F1, with a nice carbon black splitter and black GTR wheels does get me excited!

Great to see it unique in its own way for sure. Thats what this car is all about.

I do hope whoever buys it puts the original wheels on.

Re: Gooding will auction McLaren F1 031 in Monterey...

For anyone who will be in Monterey, chassis 042 which has been off the radar since 2011 has made an appearance in the paddock at Laguna Seca wearing a new set of shoes. In fact, it looks like it has had a bit of the 'flemke' treatment.

Some pics from Supercars.net...

Not sure if he will comment here as well, but flemke mentioned on PH.com that those are his newly finished custom wheels fitted temporarily to 042 just for the showing in Monterey.

Re: Gooding will auction McLaren F1 031 in Monterey...

Bit of a shame Flemke is moving away from his current wheels because they look like the originals but I must admit these look very good indeed.

Glad a lesser spotted car is out and about too.

Re: Gooding will auction McLaren F1 031 in Monterey...

Glad to see it too - some fairly knowledgeable person had mentioned to me after the sale of 028 that chassis 062 was now the only car left in the Bay Area and I had a pretty good feeling they might be wrong, and just weren't aware of this one.

Slightly more appropriate wheel nuts spotted on it today. Better than travel lugs anyway.

Looks like another white F1 may be heading there too - spotted in Oregon before heading to Monterey
