ford escort 1.9 1995
the check engine light on after i changed motor and tranmission every thing hooked upp. do you know what i can do to check it or turn it off ? thanks

I changed an engine awhile back and had the same problem. I was getting the code for the cam position sensor.... turns out the new engine I bought didn't have the piece on the end of the cam that the sensor reads from... had to pull the cam out
If this turns out to be your problem, the engine will run fine and is safe to drive- but you are losing fuel economy. Rather than sequential fuel injection all 4 cylinders will fire in batch mode on every stroke. You need to find out what your code is for the light. |

Take it to Advance or Auto Zone and they will read the code for you for free. If it was a one-time code and not a recurring one you can disconnect the negative battery terminal to erase the light. Not a good fix because the light will probably come back on again if it is an ongoing problem.
