Re: 2000 626 Tapping/Rattle When Hitting Bumps
A follow up. Still noise free. I forgot to pass the source of the water leak. It was from over spray by the Ziebart folks. They sprayed that sound proofing film along the inside of the trunk. It dripped down on the metal surface where the seal rests. I used some solvent to remove the film and that fixed it.
The next problem is the P0420 code. That will be for another thread. |

Re: 2000 626 Tapping/Rattle When Hitting Bumps
John,
I bought a Mazda 2000 last week, It is sooo loud, and I've taken it to 3 Mechanics. It looks like before I bought it that someone had been searching for the noise source in the bumber and undercarriage. I don't know how they hid it so well when I test drove it, but I really wanted the model. Now it is a mystery to all the mechanics who've lokked at it?! NOISY Libbyalot |

check the front bearings, if your car is bouncing around alot up front, this maybe the problem up front. If the back is riding rough, check the ware of the bushings.
The front bearings generally run around $80 a piece, but add labor into that cost. The bushings in the back are around $15 for parts plus the cost of labor. |

Yeah, i would most definitely check the front bearings. Sometimes even the struts/springs start to deteriorate and make some noises. I've had a few problems with the lower ball joints on my car so try to put your car on some jack stands and get under there. Wiggle the tire around a bit and see if you can resemble bumps on the road. That's the best way i can explain it. Good luck and careful with the car while it's on jack stands.
