the RB20DET came stock in the Z31 over in japan badged as the 200ZR so it virtually swaps right in. although this motor doesnt come with much more HP than the stock VG30ET, it can be modded beyond 400hp on stock internals. it also is an inline 6 motor and we all know how strong the RB series motors are when it comes to brute force. the RB25DET is the next step up and it will take a little more modification then the RB20 but it is virtually the same motor except an extra half of a liter and other newer doo-dads. RB26DETT is the most powerful motor boasting over 300hp in stock trim but was only rated at 276ps for JDM reasons that i dont feel like discussing. by far the hardest RB series motor to swap in and the most expensive. also with this motor you will need a RB25DET transmission because the RB26 was only mated to a AWD trans from the factory. RB20- little over 200hp (220 i think) RB25 - around 250hp RB26 - over 300hp but only rated at 276ps these would be my choice for swapping motors in a Z31 but we all know there are many other choices. the only downside to a SR or RB series motor is the fact that it is in fact a JDM motor so spare parts arent at your fingertips exactly.

Re: ok hey i need to know engine fits
You could also slap a VQ35DE in there, or a VK56DE ( a bit of work). A VH45, or VK45........... the list goes on and on.... even a VG30DETT.
You have to narrow down what you want before you think about a swap, then figure out what you can afford, then figure out if it can be done or would it be practical. If someone can put a Triton V10 in a Focus then you can put anything in a Z31, as some others have said its a matter of time and money.

I'll bet with a torch, a big hammer and the Jaws of life I could put a Ford 460 in a VW.
