Question 510 suspension/brake/steering upgrade wuestions

Ok I need to know something from someone who does know. I've heard that you can take a 240z or is it a 280zx take the entire crossmember, and brakes, and suspesion and toss it on a 510 with hardly any modification. and then can you take the 240's rack and pinion and rig it to the 510 also. What level of toughness would this all be out of 10. 1 is the lowest. Any imput would be greatly appreciated

I haven't heard the crossmember part, but I have heard that you can install the entire 280ZX strut and brake combo into the 510 with little or no fabrication. I can't figure out why you posted that web site, because I can't find anything on there talking about that modification.

check out Dave Lum's car. VG30DETT and Z suspension swap.
He's even got the rearward facing T/C rods.
Not that it's needed or anything...

The 280ZX struts and brakes bolt right up after you swap or hack the spring perchs.
The early versions might add caster, so use the later 81.5-83 ones...
Swap them right to left so the caliper doesn't hit the tie-rod at 50% pad wear (The calipers will be in front, instead of in back or the axleline).
You can even use the steering arms/knuckles for quicker steering.

Keep you stock master cylinder if you keep the stock rear drums.
Adding a smaller 1200 wheel cylinder can help bring the brake bias forward...
Use a larger Z-car master if you want SX/ZX rear discs.

Nice thing is the inserts/struts are as short as the 10.5"/'68-69 struts so their good for a lowered car.
Downside is the hub face sits in about 1/2" so you lose 1" of track width and some rims/tire combos could rub the strut...

That answer all your questions?
