Helping my dad with valuation and selling

Hi Everyone,

My dad's health is failing and he's asked me to step in and sell his cars. I have very little experience and was hoping to get some advice on how to value and sell these cars. I'm just trying to get my dad a fair deal and don't want to accidentally botch the sale.

I've started researching on Hagerty and ClassicCars.com and I'm wondering if you can give me specific ideas on how to value and sell each of these cars.

(photos attached)

1970 MG MGB GT
- Excellent functionally (very recent work done)
- Faded paint, good body
- Inside very basic
- Questions: Should I invest in a basic paint job? Should I get a new/working radio?

1981 Jaguar XJ-6
- Solid functionality (running very well, but work not as recent)
- Good paint, body
- Inside pretty nice, some new upholstery

How would you value these cars? Any basic improvements I should make?

We'd be grateful for any help. Thank you!

Jason

Tough to really help you here, on a 1-5 scale they would probably be 3 minus, if driveable, no major issues. Hagerty may be your best resource.

Do you think it's worth investing in a basic paint job for the MG?

I don't think the cost of a properly prepped paint job will get you a better deal. Get an estimate and see.
