v8 510???
Hi, I'v seen the old 510's for sale with ford 289's and 302's but I havent been able to talk to the owners. Does anyone know if there is a company that makes kits to fit these motors in a 510? Also, if someone could help me out with some specs like weight ratio, and the power gains i should get, or any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: v8 510???
Those swaps are done CUSTOM at shops... not aware if any one makes them as a production line! People even swap in SR20's and KA24's but it takes alot of fabrication. ($$$)

you probably have better luck putting the v-8 in there than you do using the vg30 turbo since the strut tower and the steering box will block the turbo cause thats the swap i wanted to do but no luck

damn! I was thinking about doing that swap. But would it be possible if you were to rebuild the front suspension with a pro-stock style A-arm suspension, which would allow room for the turbos, wastegates and downpipes; however that might take a little too much engineering and fabrication to be feesible.

Hey! I don't want to drag race, plus I've heard that VG30s give better weight distribution for AutoX because they can be mounted with their cg farther back, like when you swap an sbc into a 240Z. You're right about the traction problem. But as far as an LSD goes you can bolt in a Subaru diff case.

Re: v8 510???
Sube case bolts in if you change the stubshafts
might not handle V8-torque and sticky tires... a VG adds about 100# to the nose of the car. it weighs more than an L-series and isn't that much shorter check out www.datsuns.com there's engine and vehicle weights |

I heard somewhere else that a VG30DE only adds like 3 pounds, but don't remember where, also don't know how stripped down the car was. You don't have to bolt in a sube rear end, you can install an R-180, or R-200 rear end, 180 and 200mms respectively, although they are more complicated installs. Check out www.RATDAT.com
