Problem w/ s13- ticking/rattling noise-Needs Advice!
Here's my problem- In my KA24E, I've been experiencing some mild ticking noises from the engine bay- Recently, the sound has gotten REALLY loud and bad, and I got an oil change (yesterday) since it was due.
When I changed the oil in the car, it turns out that my engine had about 7 quarts of oil in it, as opposed to the 4 that should be in it. A guy who works on cars said that sound might be a problem coming from a valve or something. Also, after the change, my check oil light is still on. I took it to the auto shop, and a mechanic told me that it looks like my oil pump isnt pumping the proper amount of oil to the car. Then again, I'm not sure, but maybe I have bad lifters, or they need to be adjusted? I'm wondering if maybe I Seafoam my s13 maybe the problem will go away. I'm also wondering if maybe there's just alot of excess buildup from all that oil in the engine that needs to be cleaned out. I'm a humble novice, in need of you guys opinions- Thanks |

re:
By the way, the same mechanic told me that my engine is pretty much done for (It's still driving, but VERY loud clicking)
I'm thinking of just buying another KA to drop in for now, just so I can still be driving, until I get the funds together for the swap I want to perform. Opinions? |

Re: Problem w/ s13- ticking/rattling noise-Needs Advice!
my best friends mazda 626 had a really loud clicking, he took it to a mechanic, and said that he had to replace the valvestems because they were worn down too much or the car wasnt going to last for another 2 months.

isn't the ticking usually related to a worn timing chain? that's pretty common on the E's i think, it could be that or your valvestems

maybe
Maybe they meant that if you have it installed at a shop they usually give like 1 year warranties or like 3000+ miles warranties...

Good stuff again, yeah I think I'm just going to find somewhere (hopefully reasonable) where I can source a decent ka24de engine- because right now, all I'm for is reliablity and a working platform to work with, so that's what I'll attempt to do for now
