'93 626 brake light - panel

As soon as the brake pedal is pushed, the panel brake warning light comes on. It turns off when the pedal is released.

I replaced a burnt-out bulb. All else seems OK; pads and fluid look fine.

Is there a switch, etc., to stop the panel light behaviour?

Thanks

Sounds to me like your brake fluid level is low, and when you press your pedal, the fluid that is left goes through the lines, and the sensor that turns on the brake light comes on. HOpe this helps.

Thanks, but nope - light comes on from gentle touch on pedal with no change in speed. There's an audible click that coincides with brake lights going on/off, and that's also when the panel light goes on/off.
