You can clean the leads on the coil pack with a wire brush. Inspect the coil packs for any breaks.

Re: When do you need to replace coil pack..?

Just look at the coil pack for any noticeable cracks or damage.

oh haha duh, could have guessed that one, but one more question, on one of the vac lines its a kind of big one that goes from the intake manifold by the spark plugs to in front of the rad. fan, the original one was plastic and had some kind of swivle thing in the middle to be ran between the intake it had broke so i replaced it with some spare fuel line tube, could this be part of my prob? cause i cleaned the coil pack and it looks fine..thanks again for your help, haha your a life saver

Sounds like your PCV(positive crankcase ventilation) valve. Your engine needs it. It's about a $5 part.

thank you ! i think i figured a large contributor in it, is the coolant sensor, my CEL has been on and ive retrived to codes and nothing really mainly code 12 and little ones, i didnt clear them but i checked them again and now it has a code 22, coolant sensor , and my temp gauge isnt working so i have to get a new one

One of the great things about automotiveforums is when folks give feedback on their problem. That way the rest of us may learn what to look for when the same symptoms happen to us.

well i fixed my coolant sensor got the pcv valve, and it seems better but still in the low 900 and high 1100 rpm range, it seems like it should be around five or so, but im not completely sure, and i seem to be using alot of gas, maybe i dont know how drive a standard well but all my friends drive them and ride with me and dontt say anytthing about it, im thinking that im going to do the "seafoam" treatment to it then change my oil, i know this probably wont help my idle but ive heard good things about it, ohhh and i totally forgot, i put a CAI on my car mybe its getting to much air?? idk but if so can i somehow get the cars computer to adapt to it i guess you;d say?
